Boring garage door.
I've mentioned this before but now I'm really serious. The photo below shows my garage door which I want to liven up. I've placed 2 big pots either side and taken a roof sheet off (and broken it !). I want to put a nice climbing plant either side which will climb up a cane and(hopefully) trail along the roof 'spars'.
Any suggestions ? Can I do it now ? Be specific please, I haven't a clue about this sort of thing. any thanks.

I was wondering that Myron.
Big permanent climbing plants need big pots......

Thanks for the reply. The door is "up and over," and it slides up on runners so not projecting forwards as it opens. And the car never goes in, just stays in the carport.
I was thinking of some sort of clematis but I've little idea really. I just want to brighten it up a bit.

I have planted a Trachelospermum jasminoides in a large pot next to my garage door and its growing away really fast!

I was thinking that plants grown at the sides of your garage door might cause a problem when you want to open and close the door Hank. Each time you open the door it will push the plant growth away. The problem comes when you close it again... It will probably trap the plant inside.

The door slides up and down. Doesn't open like a normal door.
Thanks Boo, that's my best bet so far. I'll look into the trachelospermum Jasminoides.
Any more ?

My door is up and over but doesn't touch the climber.

Have seen a pic of the trachelo etc., Might go to the local garden centre today to see if they have this. Thanks.

The problem you might have is access to the garage. Is the door an up and over type? Don't forget that climbers will grow sideways too and hinder opening.
