My perennial wallflowers, Bowles Mauve are getting leggy and not many flowers on them now, should I cut them down to flower again? And how far down should I cut them?

Yea I read that somewhere about not being long lived, I might try and take cuttings, thanks for the advice Worthy.

I bought one of these last year, and wondered what to do when it became leggy,..so I took cuttings..very successfully, and I kept them in a plastic type growhouse over winter..I got rid of the old one..but my neighbour left hers, and never pruned it at all...this year it is beautiful ..!

Hmmm, well Bloomer, I'm gonna take cuttings and cut the old flowering stems and see what happens ?

The cuttings were more or less at a standstill till we got into late May,early June, and I did wonder if they would be worth keeping..but they rallied round in no time when we got warmer weather, and planted out,Booboosmum,so I'm sure yours will do the same...just wish I had kept the old one ! Good luck :o)

Try, but not too hard as they may just sulk and refuse to regrow. They are only wallflowers. The best thing is to take cuttings now from non-flowering shoots if possible.. They overwinter well, and will quickly make good sized plants. It's not really a long-lived plant.
