I have had an orchid (common sits on the window sill type) for about a year now. It died completely and then flowered again when I followed advice from Gardeners World and submerged it in water for 10 mins once a week, marvellous, it worked a treat and been in flower now for about 2 months but over past week the flowers have started to wilt and drop off. Is this the time to wilt or should I stop
submerging it every week or ahhhh any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you

Sound like you have overwatered it, they thrive more with less water, there are some vide's on youtube that will help,
Just Google 'Orchids Youtube'
Hope your Orchid will be ok :o))

Yes, I agree, over watering. I water mine once a week with rain water only - pouring the water into the pot and letting it drain through. Over watering soon makes the flowers wilt and they then drop off. No turning back.

Thanks for replies don't really understand why the advice I followed worked so well at beginning! never mind shall stop at once just to see whether it can be saved. Cheers

You will know if pot is dry and roots are light.

If pot is heavy and roots are green no need to water.

I feed them once a month.

I have 2 feeds Vitax in growth feed and Vitax in bloom feed.

Water once a week but feed once a month.

I ment to say, My Mum of 91yrs over watered one, so I left it to dry out, put it on the sunny hall window and forgot about it, a year later I noticed it had buds on it, I hadn't cut it back to a node either, hadn't even watered it, I now water it once a week and leave it to drain, now looks a picture of health :o))
