It is a nasturtium. I have never eaten the seeds but flowers and leaves make a good addition to a salad.

It is an annual, Kate, so if you want more for next year you need to collect the seed.

I think the seeds can be pickled.....called 'poor mans capers'

thank you everyone..my brother gave me seeds we didnt know what they were..well how interesting my husband is a chef so maybe he could use some for our salads :)

A nasturtium - which has edible flowers and seeds (rather peppery taste).
