On a small patch of ground I grow early potatoes each year. No crop rotation. The soil is kept fed with organic manure and artificial potato fertiliser. Crops are good.
But recently I noted a curiosity - there are no worms in the soil. Does this indicate the soil is in some way toxic?

It isn't really a great idea to always grow the same crop on the same bit of ground though
