My rasps were poor too - maybe time to improve the soil and replace if I get round to it!

When did you plant the raspberries and blackberries? If it was this year or late last year they may not fruit this year due to pruning.

Early March 2012 they were planted MG.

Then I would give them another year. Cut out all the canes that grew last year and leave the new canes that grew this year, they 'should' flower and fruit next year. You need to do this every year as raspberries and brambles fruit on new wood.

see question after yours and the answers , you could also take some cuttings late sept /oct.

I wouldn't remove the gooseberry yet - give it another chance. Tip prune all the new shoots now, and then in February prune it more drastically, removing side shoots to about three or four buds and cutting out all crossing branches. If there is some really old wood you could remove it but they do fruit on more mature wood so don't overdo it. Give it a good mulch of something nice and in Feb after pruning give it a nice dose of potassium sulphate.
Not a raspberry or blackberry expert, sorry!
