I may have found a way to send photos the right way up from an ipad. I'm sending 3 photos. Could someone let me know which one ( if any !) arrives correctly, thanks.
( have rotated left, upside down and right).

Well on my ipad they are top to bottom:
Sideways (head to left)
Upside down
sideways (head to right)

Is that what you intended by rotating the photos - and at what stage did you rotate them? Is it still the right way round on your ipad?

I think the ipad option may be to stick to landscape pics until Microsoft catches up.

Sorry Urbanite if I misled you, it's when I send photos from my ipad to a computer that the problem occurs. People complain that the photos arrive incorrectly.

No that's fine - no confusion. I've only experienced this flipping on this site (no one has said anything to me about it when I've sent pics by email).
It's bugging me now so some sleuthing is called for! I will try things during my lunch break on Monday.

It's getting more bizarre. I've just been trying out rotating images before uploading them and this seemed to work - rotate 360 degrees (ie 4 clicks of the button) and portrait pics upload ok. I then uploaded two pics together - one rotated one unrotated - and they both came out the right way (ie both portrait, the right way up)

Finally, re- uploaded one of the previously fallen over pics - without doing anything to it - and that's come out the right way up!

I'm now going for a lie down in a darkened room!

You're a glutton for punishment Urbanite, but you're doing a great job. i'm now going to read your info a couple or 3 times and try it.

My sons job is tech support for Windows and Apple based systems. He's away at the moment but when he comes back on Monday I'll ask him if he can knows what's going on.

Hello Hank. I haven't got an Ipad myself (my wife has) but may I ask you after rotating the pictures to save them again under a new name and then to upload them to this site. Please try it and let us know.

Costas,
I clicked on a photo in my "photo" folder, clicked on " edit" , clicked on "rotate" twice ( which was at the bottom) to turn it upside down, and clicked on "save". ( top left) and it was in my photo folder.
I hope this was what you asked for.if not ,tell me exactly what you want in words of 1 syllable. I'm a beginner with this ipad as I've only had it for 2 years.
If you send me your email address I'll send you whatecer you want.

I want to know if that's Homo sapiens 'Nivalis Tomentosus', because they're pretty rare down south here!

Not sure what I sent W, could have been a photo of my 2m tall grandson in yoga pose. Did it arrive upside down as usual ? Or had it righted itself as I sent it U.Down as an experiment ?

I can help you there worthy. Definitely homo but not sapiens. Its Homo Nix, var lanneus.

I've just had the sense to look at my question where the first photos were. My daughter borrowed it many months ago and put photos in the file that can't be deleted. I went to the Apple store to ask about them but was told nothing could be done.
