Hi I tried to grow Echinacea purpurea from seed in trays without success last spring. However I had some seed left which I put in the garden and they have grown to about 3in. What would you do with them now. Pot them up till spring, move them to where I want them know or leave them where they are till spring. Thanks in advance squirrelhall

mine are just left in the ground. you could move them now to where you want them next year. Not sure where you are but if you are in the colder north then cover the plants with straw or leaf mould to help prevent the worst of the winter doing damage.

I find that they come through winter here in the ground but as soon as the new shoots appear the slugs devour them!

I have to bring Echinacea into the greenhouse in the winter.....I have managed to keep the same plants going for years. Can I suggest you do a few different things so you can find out what is best for your area. Play it safe.
