Hi all, can anyone advise me about my willow tree? It's quite old, large and multi-stemmed, I have it pruned every September and this year its trunk and branches are covered with white spots, like a cheetah's skin. The spots seem to be discoloration, rather than something that's grown or sticking on. Also one large branch is dead and now I look there are patches on other branches that seem to be decaying. The leaves look completely healthy. Should I perhaps have it cut down really low this year?
Grateful for any thoughts.

Yes, thanks, I may do that when possible. Can't do photos at present though. Meanwhile will discuss with tree surgeon in September. The tree is really too big for where it is and the cost of cutting it down to size every single year is becoming a burden. Possibly a much smaller and healthier version can be achieved, I don't know. Somehow I doubt it, the rate it grows.
Grateful for your interest,
Terry
