Nurseries state on the label of Sorbus Chinese Lace, that it produces abundant berries. This is not my experience of the tree I bought 7 years ago. The tree is now 12 or 13 feet high and fine in all respects except the berries. Every year, the tree is covered in blossom/flowers but very few berries actually set. As I bought it especially for the berries for birds, it is very disappointing.

I had a cotoneaster John Waterer which didn't produce berries for about 30 years! Presumably someone nearby decided to plant one, because for the last 5 it has borne loads.

Yep, you're right, and I run a nursery! The labels are misleading. It needs others around it, which is the case for so many of our trees and shrubs, ornamental or fruiting.
