Why oh why are my geraniums not growing???
I have for the past 3 years grown on geraniums for my front garden & all grown well in the pots until I put them into the beds - They flower then do not progress. They remain small plants not producing any more than 3 to 4 flowers. I have previously put down bark chippings to prevent weds & retain moisture could this be the problem?

Geraniums prefer dry conditions and don't need too much water So it could be that the soil is too wet or poor drainage.

Hi, and welcome to g o y, if the bark chippings have composted, they will have taken a lot o the nitrogen out of the soil, which is the food required or lush growth, next year try feeding with a general fertilizer, such as growmore before planting, and also once or twice during the growing season, it could also be that it has caused the soil to become too acidic, try a soil test, and if so, lime the soil in autumn, Derek.
