How can I get rid of Japanese Anemones? they used to be just a couple of clumps but last year they just took over the whole bed. I had a couple of guys dig it over as I am not able to do so, but they must have left roots as it is just rampant. I've tried weed killer/root killer but it thinks I'm feeding it! Nothing else will grow there. Pic only shows half the bed.

Short answer? You cannot! I have a bed which is now in its 4 year of emptiness so that every time a leaf appears to can be sprayed with Glysophate. Still it comes up every few weeks.
You could dig out the soil in that bed to a depth of at least 4 feet and replace it, that might do it, but on the other hand it might not. Sorry.

I had the same problem, thought it was gone when we dug it out, I go round, same as Owd with spray weed killer whenever I see one coming up.

Thanks for comments - guess I'll just have to buy more root killer and really zap them. I quite like them in small doses as it were but this has got ridiculous! Or I could have it monoblocked - that would really scunner it! Sorry - scunner - Scots word for sicken.
