Hi. I have some raspberry canes and blackcurrant, redcurrant and gooseberry bushes which I should prune late in the year. Because of hip replacement surgery, due mid Sept., I am unlikely to be able to do it then. I would like to do it now and wonder if this would be alright?
Thanks Roy

If your raspberries are summer fruiting you can prune out the canes that fruited this year now. i would have thought you still had fruit on the bushes, why not wait until just before you go in for surgery to prune those?

Had a good crop of raspberries this summer but last fruit was easily three weeks ago. Old and new canes easily discernible but will take your advice though and leave it a while longer.
Big thanks
