I have a variety of Salix that is a perennial with small pale blue astor type flowerheads in spring and yellow leaves in the fall. It's about 45cms or 4.5ft tall. I don't believe that it's a cultivar. Could you give me the variety name, ideal growth conditions and its spread at maturity.
PS - it's NOT a bush or tree

Moongrower - thanks so much. Meanwhile I've discovered that is blue star willow which as you correctly surmised is not a Salix but Amsonia tabernaemontana .
My information came from the master gardeners at the Royal Botanical Gardens just west of Toronto.
