I have a plant (which I suspect is a tree) growing from the truck of my Dicksonia antarctica and one of them has rooted in the pot and is now 5 foot tall.
Can anyone advise me as to what to do and identify the plant?
Many Thanks.

It's one of the acacias, and probably acacia baileyana. Not fully hardy. I've seen this before with tree ferns. They come from the same place (New South Wales), and the trees seed about quite freely. If you can tease it out of the tree fern pot, pot it up in a good quality potting compost (JI No. 2) with a bit of leafmould if you can get it to keep the soil on the neutral to acid side, and keep it somewhere protected over winter. Wants a sunny site, away from cold winds (huh, don't we all?!).

Thank you ever so much. I'll move it and pot it up.
Thanks again.
