I have a Virginia creeper usually spectacular but not this year .Very few leaves , though the ones in bloom look healthy enough ,very disappointing. Any ideas why this has happened and how can get a better show next year

I've been told that for maximum seasonal colour change on trees you need a big temperature difference between day and night. If the same holds true here, could mild nights be to blame?

My virginia creeper has hardly changed colour yet ( P quinquefolia)
whereas the boston ivy (P tricuspidata) is a deep burgundy and cream
No idea why they are usually similar!

Mine is leggy and has few leaves. It is right next to a SW facing wall and the ground is still really dry - that is why I think it is water problems as that is what is wrong with mine IME.

It has been very dry this year and I am guessing your climber is next to a wall. Has it been kept watered? Mu garden is still pretty bone dry.
