they live damp conditions so is it possible to improve the drainage? If not dilute bleach, scrubbing brush, salt etc as already mentioned.

Easiest way is to scrape it out. Or go over the paving with a Flame gun. Or try a Patio Cleaning fluid. Or Vinegar is supposed to kill it.
