I do not like the taste of the fruit. They make a good evergreen screening hedge.

Excellent, Beegee!! They ripen about April, here in the desert, though it might take longer where you are. Be sure to protect it from temps below -5ยบ C this winter. Nothing better than loquat pies and preserves!

Have only just read this. Our loquat (in Derbyshire) flowered last October too, for the first time in over 30 years. The tree was grown from a cutting which was given to us. We had fruit this summer but they're rather bitter - they probably need a warmer sunnier climate to be nice to eat. Our tree is about 15 feet tall.

They can take that long. A triumph! Meant to be fragrant, if you can get up there.
