I'm not so sure. If you magnify the picture it is different from moss but I don't have a clue what it is.

I've enlarged the photo and it certainly doesn't look like a moss to me. I'm not sure what it is though.
My best advice would be to leave it alone until the grass is growing strongly again next year and then treat it with Verdone extra weed killer which you can water on to a lawn as it is designed to kill weed but not grass

could be Asperula or a Galium [woodrough/bedstraw]. any chance of a close up of the leaves?

I agree with Anchorman that it's doesn't appear to be moss. It looks like Pearlwort, but it's difficult to be certain without a close up picture.

It looks like Sticky willy to me. Google the name and you will find the names given by others are all common names for Galium. If you pick a bit will it stick to your clothes. To be truthful there does not seem to be much grass there. We have had very good results from Verdone. I think Anchorman's suggestion is sensible. You might need to reseed the area.

Definitely not moss. Doesn't stick to clothing either. Has a relatively shallow root system (not tap root) and tends to branch out over the lawm. I took the pictures of it where there was little or no grass to try and get as clear a picture of it as possible. There is loads of it growing in the grass as well. will see if I can upload additional pictures.

Its probably not mature enough to stick to your clothing at the size you are showing. Have you cut the grass since it started growing because chopping the stems would encourage it to branch out.

To upload more photo's you'll have to start a new post like you did with this one as I don't think you can add pictures to existing ones.
