I have a laurel hedge - it must be quite old now and looks like it needs feeding as the leaves are a bit speckled and paler green than they used to be and it is also looking thinner. Is there any feed I can give it?

I either use grow more or add fish blood and bone meal and rake it in. any time now really.

Thanks very much for your help. I don't know what kind of laurel it is as I'm not really a gardener. We've had some building work done recently and the builders cut some of it back last autumn, and there was some building rubble on the earth around it for a while.

Ah, well perhaps a good feed will sort it out - make sure you cut it in May to encourage new growth - depending on how its doing, you may need to cut more than you want to get it to fill out properly.

loosen the soil around the trunk of the laurel sprinkle some blood fish and bone, rake in and water, do this every spring and autumn and all should be fine,,stroll

What kind if laurel do you mean - there's Aucuba japonica or Prunus laurocerasus, first, secondly, have you been cutting it when you should, and third, for a general purpose feed, rake in Growmore round the base of the plants in April. Also check for infestation or disease of any kind.
