Don't sprinkle it around acid-lovers though, if you've got camellias, rhododendrons etc they would not thank you for it (she says after doing it herself).
I've read that it's a good addition to a compost heap.

Provided that you burn wood only, not supplimenting it with coal, then it is OK to put in on the garden in LIMITED quantity. Just a one of sprinkle over the bed is all that is needed. We have a multi-fuel stove that just burns wood most of the time. I save some of the wood ash as a potash element for my potting composts and already have a sack full of it in the shed. Further wood ash production will go in the bin.
