Good point, Buzzbub - but Pieris grows well here in Ealing, and we have a more or less neutral ph, so as long as the soil's not actually alkaline, it'll be fine - same applies to Skimmia as well though. Pity you didn't add this under the original question, then the person who asked it might have seen this.
