I would like to grow a clematis and an old fashioned climbing rose together which would be the best plants to grow?

The tricky part is the pruning regime. Choose a Class 3 (cut right down in winter) Clematis such as a viticella. Then you can tidy both plants at the same time as it is very difficult to prune a rose with a Clematis in it that can't be cut at the same time.
