I posted the question 'What's happened to this site?'. I am Merlinbabydog; not a guest. I don't understand why I cannot answer in the way we always did without being asked for ID and pasword.

you have always had to log in if you logged off after the last visit. I use 2 computers and when i go between them you have to log in. its nothing 'new' in that sense. :o)

If your computer crashes then when you return to GoY you will have to log in. It is no big deal

Thanks everyone for responding to my very grumpy post. I still don't understand why my post came up initially as a 'guest' question, but anyway, it quickly righted itself. I have never logged in and out since I joined and I think you may be right about the possibility of my computer being the problem Louise. There have been a couple of other glitches lately.

Your computer may be 'remembering' your details each time you log in?

Which browser do you use? IE 8 or Firefox. You do have to tell them to remember Passwords. Also this site automatically logs one out after 2 weeks (or it used to!). You may also have to tell your Computer to allow Cookies from trusted sites.

Thanks Volunteer and Owdboggy. Ithink it's back to normal now. I've never known what 'cookies' are and from that admission you can probably tell that I'm no whizz with the computer. The only browser I use is Google and I have GOY on my Favourites. My laptop is playing up - I have had problems with my online banking and i think I must now stop blaming the website!

I haven't have that problem, have you had any other problems with the computer lately ?
I remember someone else saying the same thing though recently, maybe it's if you logout each time ..... something to do with that perhaps ?
I have GoY as one of my homepages so i'm not logging in and out each time, maybe that's the difference.
