Cucumis sativus is the latin name for the cucumber. Whether it is male or female depends on the variety or cultivar that you choose. I suggest you go to the 'Garden Centre' tab and search for Cucumber then have a look at the selection available

you can get all female plants and other varieties have male and female flowers present.
If you dont want to 'faff' taking male flowers off then select an all female variety.
