do the seedlings need to stay in a dark room when germinating?

We never germinate in the dark. The seed is under the soil and needs the light from above to encourage to grow.

Sorry to disagree on this one, but, there are a few seeds that are very small like salpiglossis that need darkness because they are so small. Then gazanias like this method as well. There aren't a lot of them, but there are some, so we would need to know which the guest is asking about.

Why can't guest respond Moon grower?

That is the way things are set up... We never used to have Guests at all (frankly I preferred that!) Now a Guest can ask a question but, if their question isn't clear enough they can't respond unlike a member. All seems silly to me - just join GoY and ask away to your hearts delight and be able to respond and give your advice...

So guest then could be several different people, have I got that right moongrower??

Each 'Guest' question comes from a different person who is allowed to ask a question before joining GoY. This only happened a few months ago and frankly I still think it is a pain as there is no way to communicate...
