Does anyone have any experience of growing the small begonias from seed, I usually buy plugs but am fearful of the very small ones in case they come to early, and it is too cold for them, and the next size doesn't give me enough, I wondered if it was worth the risk, I have to start them indoors, and am fairly successful with most plantings havn't tried these before.

STARTED MINE ON CHRISTMAS DAY AS THEY DO NEED
TIME TO GET GOING, TRIED SOME COATED SEED THIS YEAR AND THEY SEEM TO BE MOVEING QUITE QUICKLY
(seed care of ebay) I THINK YOU HAVE TO CREATE A MICRO CLIMATE FOR THEM, SO THEY WILL STAY IN THE
PROPAGATOR TILL I CAN HANDLE THEM EASILLY, SO WITH A BIT OF LUCK ???

Thanks for your replies, sounds a bit of a challenge.

Hi, I would start them in early spring, in a propagator at 70 deg f, the seeds are minute, so it might be an idea to mix with some dry silver sand, before sowing, or go for the coated ones as Petert has done, Derek.

I did it once. You need to start in very good time as mine were very slow indeed to get going. I think I started them in one of those cheap heated propagators but not sure as its some time ago.
