Yes, it's hardy - but BEWARE...it's also invasive in some situations.

I'd also wait until fall to plant it, unless it's in a pot, or you already own the bulbs--they keep better in the ground than out of it.

Even if it isn't already planted if you have the bulbs plant now will do no harm. Though Tugb is right the dry bulbs are normally planted in autumn. Don't go and buy dry bulbs at present.
