That would be my guess. Ask your friend to rub the leaves and then smell her hand - it should smell of peanuts!

My first thought was Rhus too but on second thoughts i think it's probably melianthus

Hi, yes I think I would go for melianthus major as well, the leaves just don't look right for Rhus, although very similar, Derek.
