Can I install 2 water butts on the same down pipe? Weather man says it will be the hottest summer ever worried about my veggies curling up in the heat!

I don't see why not, as long as you can work out a way to direct the water into both, either by a connecting pipe or a two way spout, one into each butt. But I'm very concerned as to who, exactly, said it was going to be hot (see my other response under other question). Please let me know...

If you put 2 water butts side by side with one 2 inches lower than the other, connect the overflow from the butt connected to the downpipe to the other. When the first one fills up the overflow will feed the other butt until it is full. Agree with Bamboo I won't be holding my breath for a hot summer.

It all depends on what type of downpipe you mean,is it from the house or out building for the garden, what I've used in the past and still use in my allotment is a tri hose connector, first you have the main water flow (down pipe) and two outlets for whatever connection you want i.e sprinklers for watering two beds at the same time,or filling two water butts in the same way,all it takes is a few pieces of hose pipe and the right connectors.Seen Aster's blog well done and a great idea.

The water butt that was installed last week Sunday is full to the top!!!! One weeks worth of rain 120 litres (I think that's right) Cricky I'd better get another one quickly. Happy Easter one and all. Avoid the rain if you can. Eat Easter eggs and drink wine if you cant xx

We had a torrential storm this afternoon, so I'm not suprised your butt is full, and by the sound of the weather forecast, it's a pity you haven't installed the second one already... I'm skipping the wine and chocolate and going straight for the garlic and rosemary roasted lamb... Cheers;-)
