Are "Indian" Azaleas from India, or Native Indian American Azaleas?

According to the American Rhododendron Society, That species is from "NE Burma, China, Thailand, Laos, Taiwan, S Japan". If you are talking about Southern Indica or Belgian Indica azaleas, they are complex hybrids of species from the same region.
