my neighbour has erected a wobbly 6 foot 6 inch fence on her land against our wishes as it blocks the light from our vegetable plot. Our face is northwards. Do we have any rights to ask her to reduce the height?

I don't think we ever did have a "right to light" Seaburn, though councils often impose restrictions on heights of fences or hedges.

i think it is 6 inches too big! Council tenants (which may not apply to you) can only errect fences that are 6 feet high. Check it out

I think you will have to learn to live with it! The whole of my back garden is surrounded by a 6 ft fence and it does not restrict what I grow, so perhaps you should bite the bullet and move your veg patch?

I suspect not. but check the deeds of your house. ours stipulates we have to have a hedge as a boundary not a fence/wall.
I have a feeling we dont have a right to light any more but i may be wrong.
