Hi, I would like to plant a hedge with something silver blue in colour, i was thinking of using Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Pembury Blue'. But someone said that it doesn't respond well to pruning. However if it is good for a hedge, how far apart should I plant them and how tall will they grow, I want a 5 foot hedge and an 9 foot hedge. Thanks

The RHS website suggest that Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Chilworth Silver' is suitable for hedging. Eventual height is 2.5m, which, at 8 '3" is just under the 9' you are looking for, and with a spread of 1m - I would suggest planting about 80cm (2 '6") apart to give a good solid hedge. However, I have no experience on how well it responds to being cut.
