I would like to know if the pennisetum aka Fireworks is still real brown at the base will it come back? Should I prune it because I haven't as of today?

Pennisetum setaceum rubrum 'Fireworks' won't take a lot of frost: if the temps went much below 25 deg. F, it may be a goner. If you live in USDA zone 8b, I'd give it another month before throwing in the towel. If you live in a warmer zone, if it was still alive, it would have shown it by now. If in a colder zone, it didn't stand much of a chance, anyway--especially this past winter!
