Is the Ricinus poisenous to dogs?

The book I have says that the coating of the seeds is poisonous if it is broken (e.g. chewed) and digested.
I assume that they are talking about people - I don't know if dogs would react the same - but it's best to be safe.

Probably, not sure - do you have it in the house then? Only its an annual here, so it wouldn't be an issue in the garden at this time of year. Unless you mean Fatsia japonica, that is... which isn't related to Ricinus, just looks a bit like it, and is an evergreen, large bushy and hardy shrub for the garden.
