I have some cutting of lavender taken last year that need planting. Should I plant them along my path leading from my kitchen window? Or do you think I should plant them length ways to break my garden up a bit? I am really struggling to create a pretty practical garden. It is so very narrow

Try and get hold of a copy of Garden design made easy by Tim Newbury. It has lots of different styles of garden and gives plans on how to adapt them to your garden shape. His advice on long gardens is to either divide it into two or three areas each linked but have their own function or to create long curving shapes so that you cannot see to the end immediately. your lavender will need a well drained sunny spot wherever it goes. amazon have used copies for 1p!
