I bend my climbing rose as it grows to slow the sap and produce more flowers all along it. Dont forget to feed it and keep it watered till established.

Thank you both ,Grandmage andDrc726, for your advise. Will do just that. I bought my first 2 climbers from David Austins garden last year. They appear to be doing well so far.

Just pruned the one called Lancashire lad or lass, down to the base. The other is Tess of the dauvervilles, No new shoots at the base so didn't know what to do and have left it as it is for time being. Any advise welcome.Thank you.

Rohima= Don't forget it is very early yet & has turned cold again, I reckon the shoots will pop out pretty soon, roses are pretty hardy, maybe some nice well rotted manure or chicken poo will give them a treat.

I have some pelleted chicken droppings. Will apply that a soon as it is warm enough to go out again. Also have blood and bone that needs to be used up. I had forgotten that i had the stuff in the shed. Thanks Grandmage.

« I have a round area of soil smack bang in the centre of my garden- concreted paving...
Next question
I would say prune it now quite hard down to nice new side buds and it will thank you for it a bit like having a new hair do!
