Rhubarb, where to plant it?

Hi everyone, thanks for all the replies again.
When I say shady it is of course not completely in the shade.
It is south facing, the Minarette are small trees with more center growth than outwards.
But, there is always a but isn't there? The soil area is approx 40-50cm lower than the patio hence the shade bit. So the shade is coming more from the wall than the trees as the trees are about a metre apart. Hope this makes sense.?!?
My garden is not very big and I do have only small flowerbed around the edges, no propper veg patch.
Also any special soil???

Cheers for all your replies. I think I will stick the Rhubarb straight into the soil then. Does anyone think I can put the Rhubarb between some Minarette trees straight in the garden it is quite shady there?

Rhubarb, like potatoes, is not going to be happy growing under trees - needs light and air.

I have rhubarb in a pot. It's been lovely for 2 years but now I find it has rooted itself through the pot into the ground! Oops.

I don't think so which probably means someone is going to leap in and say 'I do it' lol! The crown would need a very large container and a lot of feeding in not in the ground - even there it is good to mulch the crown in autumn with well rotted manure or the like.
