We spread seaweed on the surface of a raised bed over the winter. Do we now need to scrape it off or dig it in? We will be planting fruit bushes and potatoes.

Totally agree.
Dig it in.
I live in a seaside town myself. It'll take a while to break down in the soil but eventually you'll notice a blackness in the soil-happy days.
You can also use seaweed to make a plant drink.
Place seaweed and possibly stingey nettles as well in a sealed container. Cover with water.
Stir the concoction occasionally. Should be ready in a couple of months.
I dilute it about water/weed drink about 5/1 but personal choice on that one. Toms and cues seem to love it.
Don't worry about salt in the weed either. The jersey potato growers lab test the weed for excess salt every year-not once have they found too much in the weed. The animal seems not to take it in. Bit like a fish I suppose-chefs still season!

Interesting. I wash mine in the stream on the beach before I bring it home. It would be nice not to have to bother! (especially as my wellies leak...)
