I want to create a raised bed for planting veg. I am using railway sleepers and a mixture of good top soil and manure to start it. What do I do with the existing turf - do i just leave it and pile the compost and soil on?

if you turn your turf over and pile it on top of each other as it rots down it will make lovely potting compost. Or you can turn it over and put soil over it in your bed and it will rot down nicely
