re slug control, on Gardeners World this week they mentioned some live creatures you can buy, add to water and then use in the constant battle. Can anyone remind me of their name, and where I can get some, thanks.

And they are expensive to use in an open ground situation. We tried them in the greenhouse and didn't really see much evidence of success there.

i have started putting bowls such as a food bowl for hamsters etc. next to plants and filling them with mild or brown ale. the slugs and snails are attracted to the bowls from the aroma of the beer, the little blighters drop into the bowls and drown, nasty i know but needs must. ideally it should a dark drink such as those mentioned why i'm not sure but it does work. andyf

Nematodes. It's best to get them via the net - you'll have to google them. I was told yesterday that they have a limited 'shelf-life' so to speak - so getting them from a Garden Centre might not be such a good idea.
