Maggy7's description is accurate - this type of flower on a hydrangea is known as lacecap. This plant will grow in sun and flower quite well, but also performs well in shade.

Previous question
bonjour Miranda, I have just googled it and found that it is the one I have climbing up my back fence, it should be in shade and mine is in full sun!!! the flowers are creamy white in a circle and the centre is like closed buds.
