The leaves on my Camelia are looking a bid faded. Does it need a special food? I gave it chicken poo with the rest of the plants recently.

My memory is that chicken poo is alkaline, very high in nitrogen and can burn any plant. It needs to be used as part of your compost not as a mulch.

I was rather hoping Guest meant chicken poo pellets, Moongrower, lol, but I too have a vague memory that its alkaline, so it's nice to have it confirmed.

Hi Bamboo even the pellets I would not use as a top dressing... In fact I seem to remember we bought a bucket and then himself was totally unhappy about using! We did but very, very slowly!

Not sure what you mean by faded -if you mean yellowing, and you have alkaline soil, it may be chlorotic and needs a shot of sequestrene iron tonic watered on around the base of the plant. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling chicken poo is alkaline, which won't have helped.
