Im not sure what you are asking. Potatoes are grown from seed potatoes which are usually about the size of a hens egg. Ideally before planting they are set out on trays to chit - allow small shoots to grow. The strongest shoots are left on the potato and the others rubbed off using your thumb before you plant. Potatoes will grow even if you have not chitted them but do get a head start if the prep is done. They should be planted out when the soil is warming up. If you click on the P in the A-Z at the foot of this page you can click on potatoes to get more information about potatoes as grown by members.
