Hi, I know this is'nt quite gardening related but it is a flower, could anyone please possibly name it. It would be a great help to our genealogy hunt, Thanks :o)

This is still bugging me. A flower with five pointed petals and oak type leaves is very elusive and I'm wondering if its either made up or very formalised. The only thing so far is if you take a single flower from the flower spike of the Alpine larkspur, Delphinium elatum, and a single leaflet of one of its palmate leaves. Very unlikely!
I haven't checked garden flowers, wouldn't know where to start. Are you sure its supposed to be a real one?
Anyway that's the best I can do, sorry.

In heraldry it could be a Lily. Lillis are a sign of the virgin Mary. Look at the older coat of arms for Dundee on here:

Thanks Botanic that has cleared a little bit up, we do know it originated in Scotland so maybe Dundee it is.
Thanks Steragram :o)

I wish it had eight petals then I could suggest Dryas octopetala, the logo of the Scottish Rock Garden Club. The oak type petals would match.

Tried British wild flowers - no joy. Tried heraldic flowers - again nothing. Sorry.
