Why are the leaves on my camelia bush (in ground) and also gardenia (in large pot) turning yellow?

do you have an acid soil? if not they need feeding with an ericaceous feed and you could try topdressing with an ericaceous compodt, you will need to do this regularly especially if the soil is neutral or alkaline
the only other ideas i have is drought or frost could have caused it
