I would like to make a small wildlife pond; the place I'd like it is mainly in the shade, will this be okay please?

Mines in the shade Janey and I have loads of frogs, get lots of dragon flies as well and I think you saw how well the Iris did, lol, actually because its shady I don't get a problem with green algie.....

If its in the sun you need to get a large piece of plywood to cover it during the heat of the day.

Yes I had been thinking about the algae problem Lincs....and we do get dragonflies in the summer, it'll be a perfect spot for them too...:))
Thanks Diane, and the problem of evaporation too!

If the shade is from trees you will need to net the pond in autumn to keep most of the leaves out.

Thanks Stera....it'll mainly be from a high stone wall, the one I've been cutting ivy off. If you look at my last blog you can see where I mean.

well they do occur in shade in the wild. so no reason why not. but you will be limited on the plants you will be able to grow.
