Can somebody tell me how to take a cutting from my clematis, it's been in the garden for about 40 years, i'm really new to gardening, it has a small blue bell flower, i've searched every where but cant see pictures of it anywhere,thanks in advance.

You normally propagate clematis by layering. Bend a young stem into a pot of gritty compost sunk into the soil. pin it down with a hairgrip or piece of wire, making sure there is a leaf joint covered with the plant tip free of the soil. In about 2 months it may have rooted. when it has rooted sever it from the parent, lift the pot and replant where you want it. Your sounds like it might be a micropetala form. I have one. Look in my garden profile and see if it is.
