Was it a leaf? Only ice plant I know is of the sedum spectabilis variety, a garden ornamental, and I'm not even sure that's edible.

But iceplant isn't iceberg, and surely there can be no one over the age of 12 who doesn't recognise iceburg lettuce, it's as common as chips - not to mention slightly less nutritious, lol!

Okay I've done what I should have done to start with... here is the info http://www.theworldwidegourmet.com/products/vegetables/ice-plant/
So it is an ice plant salad! I sometimes wonder if anyone but us uses google to get answers! This may just become the 'unusual veg. to grow' for the 2011 edition of In Tune with the Moon :-)

Really annoying that they don't tell you what the plant is actually called in Latin - how you supposed to grow or buy it if you don't know that?

They don't know Bamboo... and yes it is annoying!
