Suitable tree?

I have a large garden with a large old willow tree.
The tree is diseased and has to be removed. I will have the root drilled out.
What can I put in its place?
I would like either weeping or interest os some kind, flower or foilage.

A small tree with lots of interest is amelanchier, eventually reaching between 20 and 30 feet. Leaves open a coppery colour before turing green with white flowers. In August, red berries appear which are much loved by blackbirds in particular. Later there is good autumn colour too. I have had one in my front garden for many years

A weeping silver birch [betula] would look lovely, they
are easy where to plant and have beautiful dainty
heart shaped leaves and hanging catkins. In the autumn
the leaves turn a pretty golden yellow before falling.

How about a Contorted Willow or Hazel? The Hazel can be found in a purple leaved form - it has the WOW factor! They are both lovely and controllable when in leaf but come into their own also in the winter, with the strange and beautiful shapes their branches and twigs make.
